Staying at Home With Dementia Is Possible — With the Right Support

For many people living with dementia, remaining at home surrounded by familiar surroundings, personal belongings and the people they love is not only possible — it is genuinely better for their wellbeing than moving into a residential care setting.

At Surely Yours Healthcare, our dementia care service is built around one founding principle: consistency. The same carers, the same routines, the same gentle approach — visit after visit. Because for someone living with memory loss, familiarity is not a luxury. It is the foundation of feeling safe.

We work closely with families to build a personalised dementia care plan that reflects who your loved one truly is — their history, their preferences, their daily rhythms and the small details that make their life their own.

"Familiar faces, consistent routines and patient, unhurried care make an extraordinary difference to the quality of life of someone living with dementia."— Surely Yours Healthcare Care Team

Why Carer Consistency Matters in Dementia Care

For someone living with dementia, an unfamiliar face can be genuinely frightening. A new person entering their home — even with the best intentions — can trigger anxiety, resistance and distress. That is why carer consistency sits at the heart of everything we do.

We assign a small, dedicated team of carers to each dementia client and maintain that team as consistently as possible. Over time, your loved one will come to recognise their carers as trusted, familiar presences — and that familiarity transforms the quality of every visit.

Same carers assigned at every visit wherever possible
Structured handover notes ensure continuity between carers
Family notified in advance of any necessary carer changes
New carers formally introduced before visiting independently

Supporting the Whole Family, Not Just Your Loved One

We understand that dementia affects the entire family — not just the person living with the diagnosis. Family carers often carry an invisible weight of worry, exhaustion and emotional strain. Our role is to lighten that weight.

Regular Family Updates

We keep family members fully informed of any changes in your loved one’s mood, health, behaviour or care needs after every visit.

Clinical Liaison

We liaise directly with GPs, memory clinic nurses, occupational therapists and social workers to ensure your loved one’s wider care is fully coordinated.

Carer Guidance

We share practical guidance with family carers on how to communicate calmly, manage challenging behaviour and support a loved one at home between our visits.

Local Signposting

We can connect families with local dementia support groups, Admiral Nurses, the Alzheimer’s Society and other services available in the across the UK.

Flexible Dementia Care Options

Dementia care needs rarely stay the same. We offer a range of flexible care options that can evolve as your loved one's condition progresses — from a few visits each week to full-time live-in dementia care.

Hourly Visits

From 45-minute visits upwards, one or more times per day, built around your loved one’s routine

Evening & Night Care

Evening settling-in visits, sleep-in and waking night support for those who become unsettled after dark

Live-in Dementia Care

A dedicated carer living in the home, providing consistent round-the-clock presence and support

Respite Dementia Care

Planned or emergency cover to give family carers a rest, with a familiar team maintaining the routine
